CallYourBesties Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 20, 2026. Last updated: July 20, 2026.

Scope And Contact

This Privacy Policy explains how CallYourBesties handles information in the CallYourBesties mobile app and related support, privacy, and terms pages. CallYourBesties is operated by CallYourBesties. If you have privacy questions or requests, email megha.s.devaraj@gmail.com.

Information You Choose To Save

CallYourBesties helps you manually track close relationships. You may choose to save friends' names, city or location, timezone, catch-up cadence, phone numbers or contact information, birthdays and other dates, details about friends, Talk About items, catch-up history, catch-up type, date and duration, reminders, notification preferences, friendship meeting dates, and Friendship Recap information derived from saved data.

The app does not automatically record phone calls, texts, conversations, or audio. It does not read your messages, auto-log calls or texts, or decide what relationship information to save. You control what you enter and save, and you are responsible for the information you choose to enter about friends or other people.

Contacts

Contacts access is optional and user-initiated. The app asks for Contacts permission only when you choose a Contacts import or phone linking action. The current app uses the native contact picker and may read the selected contact's name, phone numbers and labels, birthday, addresses for city/timezone matching, and local contact identifier.

CallYourBesties does not upload your address book wholesale. You review the selected contact details before saving. In the current app, saving from Contacts may save a display name, one selected phone number and label, a contact-source marker, a local contact identifier, a supported city/timezone derived from the contact's address, and a birthday reminder if you choose to save a contact with a valid birthday.

Accounts, Authentication, And Cloud Sync

The app uses Supabase for authentication, database storage, and cloud account storage. Current production sign-in supports Apple and Google. Email/password and demo access are limited to approved testing or App Review accounts when enabled.

When you sign in, Supabase may process account identifiers such as user ID, email address, display name, authentication provider, and session information. The app stores Supabase auth sessions on the device using SecureStore-backed storage.

For signed-in sync-enabled accounts, the app stores account-backed relationship data in Supabase, including people, details, talking points, catch-up logs, reminders, notification preference records, per-person notification mute state, friendship meeting dates, and recap last-viewed timestamps. The app also keeps a per-user cache on the device so the app can show saved data locally.

Local Storage

Relationship data and onboarding state may be stored locally on your device using app storage. This local cache is not end-to-end encrypted by CallYourBesties. Device operating systems may provide their own device-level protections depending on your settings.

Signing out removes the current user's local app data snapshot, onboarding state, and app-owned scheduled local notifications from that device. Signing out does not delete your account or synced cloud data.

Notifications And Sharing

Notifications are optional and user-initiated. On iOS, the app can request local notification permission when you enable reminders or notification settings. Scheduled notification payloads include a person ID, optional reminder ID, and source marker so the app can route you to the right person. Notification bodies may include the person's name. The current app does not register remote push tokens with CallYourBesties.

If you share a Friendship Recap, the app creates an image in the device cache and opens the operating system share sheet. You choose where to send it, and the selected destination may handle the image under its own terms and privacy policy.

Diagnostics And Analytics

The current native app does not include a third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK such as PostHog, Sentry, Crashlytics, Amplitude, or Mixpanel. The app uses a structured logging boundary for operational diagnostics. Logs are designed to redact sensitive keys and common email or phone number patterns before writing to the JavaScript console, but these logs are not anonymous.

Because there is no current analytics network sink in the native app, no third-party analytics provider currently receives personally identifiable friend data from the app. If analytics or crash reporting is added later, this policy and App Store privacy disclosures should be updated first.

The public CallYourBesties website uses Vercel Analytics for website page-view analytics. That website analytics is separate from native app relationship data and should not receive the friend names, phone numbers, notes, reminders, or catch-up details you save in the mobile app.

How Information Is Used

CallYourBesties uses information to provide the app, authenticate accounts, save and sync user-entered content, calculate Friendship Forecast and Recap views, schedule local reminders, respond to support and feedback, troubleshoot the service, protect against abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

Service Providers And Third Parties

CallYourBesties relies on service providers and platform services to operate the app, including Supabase for authentication and database services, Expo and native mobile platform services, Apple and Google for sign-in when you choose those providers, website hosting and Vercel Analytics for public support and legal pages, and email services for support or privacy communications.

These providers may process technical information such as IP address, device or app identifiers, browser or device metadata, approximate location inferred from network information, and server logs as part of delivering their services. CallYourBesties does not currently request advertising identifiers or App Tracking Transparency permission.

Cookies And Web Tracking

The public CallYourBesties website pages for support, privacy, and terms are informational pages. The website mounts Vercel Analytics for page-view measurement. The current repository does not show advertising pixels, custom cookie code, or app-specific tracking cookies on those pages. Website hosts and browsers may still create ordinary server logs or use necessary technical storage to deliver pages.

Sale, Advertising, And Sharing

CallYourBesties does not sell or rent your personal information. Based on the current app implementation, CallYourBesties does not use personal information for targeted advertising or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Retention And Deletion

CallYourBesties keeps information while needed to provide the app, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce terms. You can edit or delete individual saved items in the app. Some deleted records are removed from the database; others are marked deleted so they no longer appear in the app.

Signed-in users can start account deletion from Profile by choosing Delete account and completing the in-app confirmation. When deletion succeeds, CallYourBesties deletes the account and connected app data from Supabase, clears local app caches and auth tokens on that device, and cancels app-scheduled local notifications. You can email megha.s.devaraj@gmail.com if you need help with deletion.

Deleting an account or synced data may not immediately remove copies from short-lived provider backups or logs, where retained temporarily for ordinary backup, security, fraud prevention, and disaster recovery purposes. Deleting your CallYourBesties account does not delete data held independently by Apple, Google, your contacts provider, or email/support providers.

Your Choices

You can choose whether to grant Contacts permission, whether to enable notifications, what friend information to enter, whether to save an imported contact value, and when to edit or delete saved content. You can change Contacts and notification permissions in your device settings. You can delete your account from Profile when signed in.

Security

CallYourBesties uses account-scoped database rules, Supabase authentication, SecureStore-backed auth session storage, and limited service boundaries for contacts, notifications, and cloud sync. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and CallYourBesties does not promise absolute security.

International Processing

CallYourBesties and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where providers operate. Those countries may have privacy laws different from where you live.

Children

CallYourBesties is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact megha.s.devaraj@gmail.com so we can review and respond.

Changes

CallYourBesties may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. The page will show the effective date and last updated date. If a change is material, CallYourBesties may provide additional notice in the app or by another appropriate method.
